SYNOPSIS: A free-spirited
Hoo was introduced to become the new Duke. Neither the palace
nor the public believed that he could handle such responsibility
so the council decided to have a competition between him and
his cousin Joon to decide on who deserves to be the next successor.
Joon has all the advantage. Everyone favors him and with
his fiancée Sae-ryung at his side, he thought that
Hoo has no chance of winning. But to everyone's surprise,
living outside the palace all his life has made Hoo a better
competitor. His instinct and street wit won him a couple of
challenges and even the heart of the palace attendant, Soon-ae.
REVIEWS: Did anyone order
jajangmyeon? I didn't
I don't want to compare but the
first one is much better than S. Aside from a very slow pace
and boring acting, I wasn't moved by the story. It's very
typical and predictable. I didn't even like the portrayal
of the actors. There's no chemistry between Se7en and Heo
I-jae. I don't know if it has something to do with the characters
or they just don't click. They act so geeky but not cute.
I'd rather see more of Doo and Sin-hye. They have more attitude.
Doo's unique look - mysterious and deep - made his portrayal
believable. And who would have thought that this is the same
Sin-hye who made us cry in Stairway in Heaven?
S is definitely the opposite of Goong especially on the elders.
They are less strict, more outgoing and modern. I don't have
to skip all those "elderly talks"
just during
some of Se7en's poor acting and Soon-ae clumsy scenes.
The challenges are enlightening although the result is very
expected. From the way the story was going, there's definitely
no twist. They even made everyone happy and contented at the
end. It's not that I'm hoping for people to die or be in misery
but it's just too good to be true. Atleast, they could have
made somebody sad but understanding of his fate - like Yool.
