Kyung-min is obsessed with Hye-ryun. He used Jung-eun, Hye-ryun's
friend, to become closer to her. He even let her borrow money
for a room down payment to look impressing. But his motive
has led him into living with Jung-eun when gangsters started
chasing him due to illegal gambling. He got nowhere else to
go but to stay with her temporarily. And since the money used
for the room is his, Jung-eun has no choice but to accept
him secretly until he passes the bar exam.
Jung-eun found temp job at Dong-june's ad agency. Seeing
a potential, he decided to groom her into an independent and
successful employee. Since Hye-ryun is in love with Dong-june,
she misunderstood the special attention he was giving her.
To make Jung-eun look bad, she made up stories and attacked
her personal life. But nobody believed her since people know
Jung-eun to have a kind heart. And when she found out that
Kyung-min lives with her, she got more irritated.
Although things didn't start out peacefully between her and
Kyung-min, Jung-eun still managed to see a different side
of him. She eventually fell in love eventhough she knows her
feelings will only be disregarded because of Hye-ryun. Luckily,
she found a friend in Dong-june and made him his love consultant.
All four got involved in one chaotic love connection. But
things got worst when Jung-eun's family found out that she
is living with Kyung-min. Since marriage is sacred, they forced
Kyung-min to sign a memorandum stating that he will wed Jung-eun
after passing the exam. Though bound by the obligation, they
stayed together but agreed not to honor the memorandum because
they are not intimately involved.
Dong-june eventually fell for Jung-eun that made Kyung-min
jealous. Jung-eun might not feel the same way but Kyung-min
still tries to break them apart. Before he realized it, he
already has fallen for her too. But the situation is not permitting
it. Jung-eun's parents don't approve and Hye-ryun, envious
of what Jung-eun has become with work and with her love life,
tries to lure both Kyung-min and Dong-june away from Jung-eun.
Although both has feelings for each other, Kyung-min and
Jung-eun decided to separate ways because of their pride.
But they can't seem to live without the other so Kyung-min
kept on coming back to Jung-eun's place. When he was about
to profess his love after passing the exam, Jung-eun turned
him down afraid of getting hurt. She didn't believe his sincerity.
To finally get over him, she accepted the application to England
and put up the house for sale.
After 3 years, Jung-eun came back to Korea. When she visited
the place she used to live in, she met Kyung-min who became
a prosecutor. Upto that moment, they both tried to suppress
their feelings. But when Jung-eun found out that Kyung-min
never left the house because of their memories and has changed
a lot because of her, she finally gave in to his love.
It took me 10 episodes before I really became interested
in this series. Every time I start watching, I always get
distracted. There are even times that I fell asleep in between
scenes. There seems to be nothing in it that could pin me
down to my seat. Even the love triangle didn't appeal to me.
But when Kyung-min realized he is falling for Jung-eun, it
started to be worth watching, at long last.
A lot of people I know love Kim Rae-won. When I first saw
him here, I was like, WHY? He looks like a typical Korean
guy. Nothing so special about him. But for some reasons, as
I get hooked in the series, he started to grow in me. He got
some nice smile, which I didn't really notice in the first
few episodes. Although he does overreact a little bit, as
the story goes, you'll get used to it. On the other hand,
Jung Da-bin's performance was okay. I like it when she gets
mad at Kyung-min for lying. It looks so natural when she is
getting played with.
Ironically, you could see the connection between Rae-won's
and Da-bin's characters when they fight. It's like their "cat
and dog" relationship brings out the best in their personalities.
With just the facial expressions or the slapstick actions
alone, you would like the series. The humor was nicely delivered
and there are a lot of cute scenes too (on the later part,
of course). Plus the upbeat OST that completes the package,
you definitely got one cool story.
Possibility of making MBC drama "Ohk
Tab Bang Go Yang Hee" sequel
stoo.com [ 07.2003 ]
Are they going to make the sequel to the widely popular MBC
drama "Ohk Tab Bang Go Yang Hee aka Attic Cat"?
Fans are certainly persuading for a sequel, and thus far,
there is a possibility of making the sequel to the drama.
MBC drama "Attic Cat" which is ending on the 22nd
of July has left fans wanting more, and they have put together
a movement to make a sequel to the drama. The drama's fans
have been writing on the MBC homepage with messages such as
"please make a sequel to the drama" and the fans
have been paying more attention to the possibility of making
"Ohk Tab Bang Go Yang Hee 2". One producer has said
though that "until now, there hasn't been a miniseries
where the actor/actresses from the original drama appeared
in its sequel with the same story line. Because of this, we
hadn't thought about a sequel deeply." The producer has
also said though, "...but as time passes by and the audience's
interest in the drama has sustained, we will then think about
making a sequel. If this happens, TV drama's history will
be captivated." As of now, the studio is looking forward
to the last episode on the 22nd, and thoughts of a sequel
are still in the air.
The spoiler for the last episode has revealed that Kyung
Min proposes to Jung Eun but she refuses the proposal. Instead,
Jung Eun goes to study abroad with Dong-june. After studying
3 years, she returns to Korea and meets Kyung Min who becomes
a public prosecutor and still lives in the attic house and
confirm their love for each other. The couple still doesn't
show any affection towards each other and just gives each
other a couple ring. Knowing the basic summary of the final
episode, however, the audiences haven't really predicted the
marriage of two main characters.
In the sequel, the writer may make a story based on the process
of Kyung Min and Jung Eun getting married and show the life
of them and their family. However, the earliest possibilities
of its sequel is February 2004, after MBC "Dae Jang Gum".
During January 2004 the drama "Chung Shil Hong Shil"
is lined up. After January/February of 2004, the producers
are then thinking of possibly airing the sequel.
